  • In langauge arts, we continued practicing the strategy of asking questions while we read.  We also worked on distinguishing between what was reality in a book and what was fantasy.  In addition, we read quite a few versions of the Three Little Pigs.  We compared and contrasted them.  We figured out what was the same in the books and what was different.
  • In math, we had an activity where we were given one picture with different sea creatures in it.  We were also given four addition sentences.  We had to figure out which one of those addition sentences did not fit with the picture.
  • In writing, we continued working on a three part story as well as adding specific and relevent details.
  • In science, our focus was on butterflies.  We learned about their body parts and some of their special characteristics.  Over the last few weeks we have watched caterpillars grow and form a chrysalis.  Just this week, the butterflies have broken out of their chysalises.  We have really enjoyed watching them move, fly, and eat!
  • During our community centers, we continued to observe our butterflies and record what we see in our butterfly journal.  Another one of our favorite centers was our art center.  We practiced making a symmetrical butterfly by painting one half of the butterfly and then folding it in half.
  • Heart words of the week: with, my
  • Special theme of the week: butterflies
