  • In language arts, we practiced the strategy of rereading and looking at the picture if we do not understand something.  This week, we also enjoyed reading the various Click Clack Moo books by Doreen Cronin.  We enjoyed figuring out what was the same and what was different in these books.  We did the same thing with Miss Nelson books that are written by Harry Allard.
  • In math, we were introduced to two new math centers.  One math center is called Piggy Banks.  We practice recording and solving subtraction problems at this center.  Our other new center is called Polydron Construction.  We have to create a 3 dimensional object while following directions.
  • In science, we were introduced to force and motion.  We learned that force is a push or a pull.  We then experimented with pushing and pulling various objects (round, flat, heavy, light, etc.)
  • During community centers, we had a few centers for continued experimentation with pushing and pulling.  One of our favorite centers was our construction zone.  We experimented with motion by building ramps and sending marbles down those ramps.
  • Heart words of the week: me, where
  • Special theme of the week: Force and Motion
