  • In language arts, we read a book about fish and practiced the strategies of asking questions and comparing/contrasting.  We also practiced breaking apart words into their individual sounds.
  • In math, we were introduced to a new math center called, Bug Catchers.  With this new center, we are practicing recording and solving subtraction problems.
  • In writing, we worked on writing a three part story (three sentences).  We also practiced writing adjectives, which was inspired by the author Eric Carle.  Many of his books contain an adjective in the title.
  • In science, we focused on learning the life cycle of a butterfly.  We really enjoyed acting it out!
  • During community centers, we continued to observe our caterpillars.  They have now turned into a chrysalis and we have transferred them to our butterfly pavilion.  Another one of our favorite centers is our nylon caterpillar center.  We stuffed a nylon with dirt and grass seed.  We are hoping the seeds will grow and the grass will stick out of the top.
  • Heart words of the week: has, look
  • Special theme of the week: butterflies
